Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese for garlic butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder for seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning or oregano/basil mix
  • 8 slices white bread or bread of choice
  • 12 slices mozzarella cheese or cheese blend
  • 6 oz pepperoni sliced
  • Warm pizza sauce for dipping, optional

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, combine softened butter, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning until smooth.
  2. Spread the seasoned butter evenly over one side of each slice of bread. Lay buttered side up on a sheet tray until ready to use.
  3. Heat a medium skillet over medium-low heat. Place one slice of bread, butter side down, in the skillet.
  4. Layer a slice of mozzarella on the bread, followed by 6 pepperoni slices, another mozzarella slice, 6 more pepperonis, and a final mozzarella slice.
  5. Top with a second slice of bread, butter side up. Cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt.
  6. Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown, about 3–5 minutes. Flip carefully and cook the other side until golden and cheese is fully melted. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
  7. Serve immediately with warm pizza sauce for dipping.
