Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound 80/20 ground beef for juicy, flavorful tacos
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning homemade or store-bought, for bold flavor
  • 1 tablespoon water to help thicken beef
  • Vegetable oil for frying tortillas, about ¼-inch in skillet
  • 8 6-inch flour tortillas (small soft tacos)
  • Shredded iceberg lettuce optional, for crunch
  • Shredded cheddar cheese optional, for melty topping
  • Sour cream optional, for creaminess
  • Fresh cilantro leaves optional, for garnish
  • Pico de gallo optional, for fresh flavor
  • Salsa optional, for added spice

Method
 

  1. Place the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until fully browned, about 8 minutes.
  3. Add taco seasoning and 1 tablespoon water, stirring until the mixture thickens and bubbles, about 2 minutes.
  4. Remove skillet from heat and set aside.
  5. In a separate medium skillet, pour ¼-inch vegetable oil and heat over medium.
  6. Once oil shimmers, place one tortilla in the skillet and cook undisturbed until golden, about 1 minute.
  7. Flip the tortilla and cook the other side until golden, then transfer to a paper-towel lined plate.
  8. Repeat with remaining tortillas, adding more oil as needed.
  9. Divide the cooked ground beef evenly among the tortillas.
  10. Top with shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, sour cream, cilantro, pico de gallo, and salsa as desired.
  11. Serve immediately while tortillas are warm and crispy.
