  • 1 cup salted butter softened to room temperature for easy creaming
  • 1 cup granulated sugar for sweetness and crisp edges
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed, adds moisture and caramel flavor
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract for flavor depth
  • 2 large eggs room temperature, helps bind dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour unbleached recommended for texture
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda for slight lift and spread
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder for additional leavening
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt fine, enhances chocolate flavor
  • 2 cups chocolate chips 12 oz, any variety: milk, semisweet, or dark

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line three baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and sea salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with both sugars until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract, mixing until incorporated and light.
  5. Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Scoop 2–3 tablespoons of dough per cookie, roll into balls, and place evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 8–10 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden but the centers still appear soft.
  9. Allow cookies to rest on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
