Turkey Burgers with Pickles and Cream Cheese

Seriously, I doubt I will ever make a turkey burger again without adding chopped pickles to the mix.  It was a game changer.  I think turkey burgers can get boring sometimes -and super dry (which is why I choose the dark meat option).  Between the pickles and cream cheese – holy cow I could (and did) eat these for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Kids were on the fence about them but I also have not fed them burgers a lot so going to keep trying. Regardless, even if they never like them, I will always make them for us grownups.

Turkey Burgers with Pickles and Cream Cheese
Makes 8 burgers
  • 1 lb dark meat ground turkey
  • 1/2 block of cream cheese torn into small pieces (4oz)
  • 1/2 cup (packed) chopped pickles (I had the sandwich stackers in the fridge and they were really easy to chop up and tasted great)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped up small and cooked in a pan with a little butter and salt and pepper until soft and starting to brown
  • salt and pepper
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl with a spoon or your hands.
  2. I used an ice cream scoop to portion them and made 8 patties out of the mix.
  3. If you have a grill, go for it – otherwise, heat large non stick pan over medium heat. Lightly grease with olive oil or pam and add however many burgers fit into the pan without crowding. Cook over medium heat until brown on one side, flip and cook other side until same color.
